Introducing…the Boring Plan!
8/28/04 — 270
I am following a new eating plan that I came up with. I call it “the Boring Plan”, because I’m not going to be trying to market it. What I realized, after trying this several-small-meals-a-day thing (to keep the metabolism up) was that I don’t have a freaking clue what constitutes a “small meal”, since I wasn’t paying any attention to calories or portion sizes. And honestly, it’s a big pain in the wazoo to try to weigh, measure, and count, so I hit on an idea: eating pre-measured, pre-counted stuff — and voila, the Boring Plan was born.
I went to the grocery store and stocked up on frozen diet dinners (the Michelina’s Lean Gourmet meals were on sale $5/five), packages of crackers, cups of yogurt, and the 100-calorie packs of Cheez-Its and Chips Ahoy. Now all I have to do is write down the calories I consume. If I keep it around 1200 or so, I lose weight (I’ve already dropped at least two pounds doing this).
It’s boring because I eat the same stuff every day (more or less — there’s a good variety of entrees and yogurt flavors), but there’s no cooking, shopping is easy, and I don’t even have to worry about carbs. There’s one week left until the reunion, but I think I could drop maybe 5 lbs. I’m also doing lifties to help the metabolism along, since I can’t seem to bring my fat ass to get up and walk, yet. The coolest thing is that I never have to be hungry, because these meals are only 200 to 300 calories apiece, mostly. I can eat up to five times a day and still stay well within my range.

The Boring Plan seems to be working, but I’m a bit concerned, because I believe I ate too little today. I need to keep calories up around 1200 -1600 to keep from going into starvation mode, and I don’t think I even hit a thousand today. But I don’t want to eat right before bed (it’s 12:20 a.m.). I’m trying to get to sleep at a decent hour. Well, I just read an article that said you could fast for a day or two and not mess things up too badly, as long as you don’t make a habit of it. I’ll just try to sleep and make sure to eat more tomorrow.

I don’t know if my weight will go down again, because I have a nighttime weight of 270.5, and I didn’t do any exercises today. At least I ate enough (I think — I got 1240 calories, but I felt hungry all day, so I should maybe get around 1400.) I’m getting used to just eating a little bit at a time, though; if I eat two things together, it almost seems like too much food. I really do need to exercise more, but I wish I could lose some weight first so it will be easier to move.

Plenty of good news! Not only is the Boring Plan continuing to work, it was also able to withstand “free day” without getting derailed. Lunch at McDonald’s and dinner at Bonefish Grill, and today I marveled at two things: one, what a nice BM I had, even though I haven’t taken Metamucil for a few days; and two, that even though I stayed OP (I only ate about 1,000 calories today), I still managed to eat a hot dog, macaroni and cheese, and chocolate, and now I’m getting an evening weight of only 268.5. I love the Boring Plan!
